Name: Dr. Daniel Varholy
Position: President of Corpus Christi Watershed
Bio: Dr. Daniel Varholy, President of Corpus Christi Watershed, is a lay brother of The Little Brothers of the Eucharist. He received a B.A., majoring in English Literature, from Middlebury College in Vermont, a M.St. and D.Phil from Magdalen College of Oxford University, and a M.A. in theology from Holy Apostles College and Seminary. Dr. Varholy also has studied philosophy at the ‘Angelicum’ in Rome.
After teaching literature in undergraduate classrooms for several years as well as spending formative time in hermitage with The Little Brothers of the Eucharist, he felt called to organize the labors of Watershed in order to provide a structure for artists who wish to integrate their spiritual and artistic callings by working as artists serving the Lord and his Church. The dynamic relationship of the contemplative life and the fruit it can bear in artistic endeavor is the mission he encourages for Watershed and all of its members. |

Name: Albert G. Saenz, Jr.
Position: Vice President of Film and Video
Since: October 2006
Bio: Albert G. Saenz, Jr. is the VP for Film and Video at Corpus Christi Watershed. Albert joined Dr. Daniel Varholy, Tim Hatch, and Ben Craig as the first employees of Watershed in the beginning of 2007. Albert is degreed from Texas A&M University Corpus Christi with a B.A. in Communications.
Before coming to Corpus Christi Watershed, Albert had spent time working and volunteering for the Diocese of Corpus Christi in various youth positions and for a few of the local parishes. Albert says, “I knew that once I started working for the Church and for God that it was a calling that I had to stay with and continue to pursue.”
Working at the parish level for several years, Albert felt motivated and called to undertake video and film work to serve a higher purpose. And it would be by Providence that Albert would meet Dr. Daniel Varholy at a local parish one evening. Less then a week later, Albert was on board for what would be the ground breaking of something new and exciting.
“I cannot explain fully what it is like to have the calling to do something, and to pray and be patient and to have your faith tested and then for God to pour out on you the answer to your prayers. That is what happened with Watershed,” explains Albert. Albert says that he has learned much in his short time, but that he continues to learn and is hopeful for greater projects for the video and film department, and for all of Watershed.

Name: Tim Hatch
Position: Creative Director of Graphic Design
Since: October 2006
Bio: Tim Hatch serves as Creative Director for Graphic Design at Corpus Christi Watershed. He brings several years of experience to his job. Prior to working with Watershed, Tim served as graphic design editor for both his high school and college newspapers. In 2006 Tim graduated with a B.A. degree in catechetics from Franciscan University of Steubenville in Ohio. Despite spending several years away from home at college, Tim is glad to return to his home parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe at Naval Air Station, Corpus Christi, where he has taken an active role in the religious education and RCIA programs.
He is grateful for the opportunity to return to Corpus Christi and work for Watershed where he can use both his experience in the graphic design field combined with his catechetical formation from college. It is a joy for him to find an artistic way of touching souls and bringing them to Christ with the aid of the media.
“Five months after I graduated, I met up with Dr. Daniel Varholy, my former English professor prior to transferring up to Franciscan, at a dinner party of all places!” Tim said of the experience. He said his experience of joining the Watershed team was a testament of God’s loving providence when one places complete trust in Him. At that time Daniel had recently moved back to Corpus Christi and was in the process of founding Corpus Christi Watershed. After catching up at the party and a lunch meeting, Tim was officially a part of the team.
Serving as Creative Director for Graphic Design is quite a task that involves everything from composing The Watershed Quarterly to assisting in the design of DVDs and CDs and their covers for our audio and video productions. Other tasks include assisting with the daily tasks of running the Watershed office, such as organizing receipts and keeping track of donations received through the website. However, Tim said the best part of his job is the opportunity to work on creative writing projects. One such Watershed project in the pipeline that Tim is working on is a series of short radio dramas on the North American Martyrs as part of the larger St. Noël Chabanel Responsorial Psalm project, a watershed liturgical project that seeks to make beautiful sacred music available for the Mass.
“In today’s age of technology, the media has potential to become a powerful magnifier of God’s Word and as technology continues to advance this power will only increase so that the Word will resonate more clearly,” Tim said. “With God’s help and the intercession of the saints in heaven, Corpus Christi Watershed hopes to accomplish this magnification of God’s Word through our creative projects.”
