Chinese Gospel

Corpus Christi Watershed is designing pocket-sized booklets of each of the four Gospels in Chinese that will be handed out at Chinese parishes across the country.
St. Joseph & St. Phillip Neri: Corpus Christi Watershed's Heavenly Intercessors

Pope John Paul II spoke in deeds and in words almost constantly about catechizing through beauty, and Cardinal Ratzinger was an influence on him in these regards. So we are very much with the thinking of the Church right now in seeking to catechize through beauty by using beauty as a means toward sanctity. Thomas Aquinas always maintained that the artist is the servant of the contemplative. So, we need to instill that idea in the artists that come to visit us and work with us. It is not ‘art for art's sake’ so much as art for the glory of God and the transformation of our culture.

Sr. Magnificat Macé explains the art of icon writing

The following is an interview with Sr. Magnificat Macé of Catholic Solitudes on icon writing conducted by Dr. Daniel Varholy. Sr. magnificat spoke about her icons meditating on Pope Benedict XVI's encyclical Deus Caritas Est at Corpus Christi Watershed on March 10.

So you sing a lot when you write your icons?
Yes, when I get up in the night… I sing and I paint. Sometimes I go out to look at the stars and the moon. So I sing. I come back here maybe at 2:00 during the night. Then I start painting.

At two in the night?
Yes, this morning at 2:00 AM I was painting. If I am awake I cannot stay in my bed, so I get up and I pray. After I walk, and then after that I paint.
